We usually take our digital cameras off the boat. Haven't lost them yet. The only time we take a disposable one is if we're going a "wet" excursion. Whether it be in the water, a rain forest, etc. If there's a chance we'll get soaked, we take the disposable water proof cameras. Anything else, we take the digital cameras.
I feel that as long as you have the camera with you at all times you should be fine.

Feel free to PM me if you have questions on how to work your way around the site.
Since I live in a touristy type location I keep my camera with me at all times period. It is in my purse. You never know when you might want to take a picture.
I have bought the waterproof disp. cameras before without a flash. It is great above the surface. Not as good at taking pictures of underwater fish.

Helen,
Thanks for the info! You are the second person to tell me to use the Kodak one, so we'll probably do that. I appreciate the help!![]()

One thing we do is if we take underwater photos with disposable cameras, we get them developed on the ship, they seem to get the colors right. Every time we bring them home and develop, they come out all green instead of turquoise like it really is in the Caribbean. And it only cost 2 dollars more than at home!
We take our digital with us. But Hubby doesn't go into the water so he's in charge of it. On the Ladies Only, I will probably take it with me but the only time I will leave it without someone from the group around will be on a boat snorkel trip.
Do have to say, on our last cruise, I misplaced our camera on the ship. We checked with the Purser's desk as soon as we realized it and then again the next day. And I do want to publicly thank the passenger or the crew member who turned it in. There really are more honest people then there are dishonest people in this world.![]()

MaggiePlease support the Shrine Hospitals - the children thank you.
Since there are three of us, one of us will go play "catch the wave" with our daughter, while the other stays with our stuff on the beach. On our snorkeling trip, it was a ship's excursion on a little boat. So it would have been impossible for someone to steal something from our table without us realizing it before we reached the pier, especially as I didn't go snorkeling, but stayed on the ship the whole time.

I didn't realize that the ship would develop pictures for you. I'll do that with my one time use camera's before we disembark. (<-- yeah! my first ship term!) Thanks for the advice!![]()
I take my digital camera and my video camera on all excursions. The DW uses the digital , as I use the video camera .
