In the UK we don't celebrate "Thanksgiving" and Harvest Festival isn't quite the same

I'd far rather cruise over Christmas AND New Year - It helps you miss all that horrible family nonsense that you otherwise get.

I like your answer. We moved away from family for that reason.

I would like to do a New Year's cruise. It would be fun to see all the celebrations going on.

I still like the nonsense of Christmas at home. Also love my own cooking at Thanksgiving. So..New Years is my choice.

Joey you should have added "None of the above" to the choices. If I had to choose one of those I suppose it would be New Years, but it's so soon after Christmas that it could be a problem. Thanksgiving up here is in early to mid October just when the colour in the trees is at its best. I think my best choice would be Labour Day for a Med cruise.

Hawaii 2012, Grand Princess 2011, etc.

If you want a fun New Year you want to try Madeira. The fireworks at midnight are incredible. You don't even have to be on a boat to see them

We used to take our children to Aruba for the Xmas holidays. Those were the BEST New Year's Eves. The entire island was lit up with fireworks. I'll bet Madeira is something similar.

Once the "kids" no longer travelled with us, we stopped the Xmas/NY trips. At that time, everything is the most crowded and the most expensive. Now, for our winter vacation, we go in Jan/Feb/ Mar. (just for 3 weeks, not for 3 months!!!!)

    Definitely New Year's Eve!

Although............if I was to sit at a table with a minister, a cop and his sexy wife, an elderly Jewish couple, a haberdasher, a teenager and her young brother and a singer................I'd jump overboard and head for shore! (Okay, if you don't get that scenario you simply have not seen THE movie!)

I think New Years would be the ultimate in fun on the high seas though!
