Exclamation Would you cruise a ship with a low CDC Sanitation report?

If you were booked on a ship and later read that the Sanitation Report had it rated below 90% ... would that make you cancel your cruise?

I believe the criteria that is used to grade cruise ships is extremely more stringent than what any land based restaurant goes through. I think a cruise ship getting an 80 would be similar to a land based restaurant getting a 90.

If it was a recent inspection and the cruise was far enough out that I could cancel without penalty.. but was close enough that the next inspection wouldn't occur until after my cruise was scheduled.. then YES

Picked OTHER because we probably would if it were on a cruise line we liked. Would trust they would correct the problem.

Certainly -- NO! NO! NO! -- if it were a new cruise line for us ... or ... one we were "iffy" about anyway!

    You betcha!

I have a feeling my house wouldn't pass the CDC inspection, so the cruise ship would be safer!

Also any defects found on a failed inspection would be quickly corrected - it might become overnight the cleanest ship on the seas.

That would be an interesting poll. How many people think their houses would pass a CDC inspection????

Just because a ship receives an excellent grade...doesn't mean you can't catch anything...lol

The Disney Wonder received a score of 100 on their most recent inspection. Now, you would think that would be SUPER...but, my daughter caught conjunctivitis while onboard...it was the 10 night cruise...she obviously caught it from the ship because it has a really fast incubation period...24 hours...and it was like day 3 or 4 ...do I blame Disney? Yes....I question how well cleaned up the kids room is .....luckily I noticed the symptoms very very early and brought her to the onboard doc...keep in mind that we constantly used hand sanitizer gel ...

Yes if it wasn't consistant!! All it takes is one new crew member to make a mistake that wasn't caught just before the inspection. Same as restaurants we eat at when you can't see the kitchen, or bathrooms in stores or airports when we can't wait to get home, or our own homes with kids in them, when they bring home everything yukky known to man that we don't catch!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

I, like most, would hope that after a bad inspection, most problems would be solved....but would be more likely to go if a.) there was a good reinspection, or b.) if it was a line I knew well.

The other factor in cruising is that, while they do clean constantly, the spread of germs is only as good as the passengers' care with their illnesses. I'm sure many folks with 'GI issues' fail to report them because they don't want to be denied boarding...and all it takes is one infected kid with conjunctivitis to hang out with your kid while still infectious, and it doesn't matter HOW many times they bleach the place.....

Gee, if they could only eliminate all the other passengers and the crew, we'd finally be safe!
