Having been in the process of deciding on a hotel for pre and post cruise stays in March, I thought it'd be interesting to see what others think.
Cheap & cheerful (it's a place to sleep)
Not too cheap (I don't want to fight with the rats or bedbugs)
I want some luxury
I want lots of luxury and great food

as long as its CLEAN and SAFEand (cost effective)![]()
I like the ones that are Comfy, clean, and relaxed!! I don't need luxury.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.
Really depends ... but I picked "Some luxury". A pre-cruise is part of our vacation too so like being in a place that has the things we like is important to us .... While this is what we prefer, we are flexible!![]()

Great QuestionI chose some luxury, although luxury might be a tad of a stretch, but it's closer to what we like . I like a large room that is comfortable and a nice, CLEAN ,bathroom. The bathroom can make or break it for us. I try to see photos if available and always read Tripadvisor!

The pre hotel through the cruise lines were cheaper than we could find ourselves and they were 4 to 5 star. Next cruise we hope Embassy Suites will still be on their choice list because they provide a free buffet breakfast( That's really up-scale). With 3 mostly grown children its a plus.
Hello from California
Personally, I chose La Quinta (on Sue's recommendation) for our pre cruise because it's reasonable in price and has shuttle service to the port as well as the airport.....breakfast included is a good thing too. However, on the way back, to take advantage of lower airfares, we booked 3 nights at the Lago Mar, an upscale hotel right on the beach with a great restaurant on site. With the Canadian dollar at par we get to pay what it actually costs.....quite a bit, but it's part of the whole vacation experience.
I like a little luxury. I usually stay at a full-service Marriott if possible. I love the view of the cruise ships from the Biscayne Bay Marriott in Miami.

Searching for my next great cruise.
I voted a little luxury. I prefer it over the others because I'm most comfortable at those places. I'm getting spoiled in my old age and like the on property restaurants and lounges in addition to the nicer rooms. Most of those places have free shuttles to the ships, also. When Nita and I stayed at the Hilton in Galveston, they shuttled us all over, even to the place the others were staying, picked up some of them, took us to town and it didn't cost us anything but tips for the driver![]()
