We have always booked through the cruise line. Probably more expensive but less hastle and more convenient. Jan and I are currently trying to use our frequent flier miles for our Aug Med cruise. We couldn't figure it out on line so make calls and spent the better part of yesterday on the phone and we still don't have a booking! Our return flight is still outside their date limits. If we get this done it will be a miracle and I doubt we will ever book on our own again!

Back in the old days the cruise lines had very good air add-ons and we used them. Now I book air on my own. I can often even get transfers at a better price that the lines. I will still use cruise line air if they are offering a deal. In the last 10 years we have only used the cruise line air once.

I always book our own flights. I have never seen the cruise line ever have a good deal. If I allow the CL to book my flight then I don't have any control on departure times.

We always fly in a day or two early so that we don't have to worry about missing the ship.

We can always find flights cheaper than what the cruise line offers them.

I always have my TA quote me on air when we book but she has NEVER been able to beat what I can get on my own research. We often fly with FF, so that is always a nice perk. I am such a control freak, I like to do the research & make the reservations!

I usually book my own flight too. Many time I add my own add-ons to the vacation. Plus it's more flexible.

Well, guess you could say the miracle happened. We were successful in getting our flights together, through the frequent flier miles! I am glad we stuck with it as it has saved us many $$$$$$

I have let Celebrity quote our air to and from SJ for Dec 08... their quote is 818 pp.. Keep in mind this travel is in mid to late December around the holidays..... I don't know if I can beat this fare during the holidays... preliminary research shows that the price is more like 1100 pp thru AA right now.. as time to make that decison gets closer we will see what we see
