Welcome back!! You can keep this thread alive and you can also post it in Cruise deals if you would like!! http://www.cruiselinefans.com/cruise-deals/ I can't put it in a group cruise section as you haven't booked with a CLF TA but it can go in roll calls!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

What itinerary and ship are you considering? We love the military discount, even if Carnival has reduced the percentage discount allowed now. My husband served in the Navy in the early '60 (during Cuban Missile Crisis), stationed in Bermuda (poor baby!), and he would probably be interested. We've already been on one Carnival cruise this year, will be leaving on one at the end of this month, and have another scheduled for December.

We are going on the Carnival Valor. It will be departing the 8th of November and return the 15th. Departing out of Miami. We are slowly getting folks to make a deposit and need more. I have asked Beverly from Cruising Smart to handle the travel agent end of it. It will be a group cruise because that way everyone can come. We want Veterans, family, friends and supporters to attend.
Here is a blog she has started:
Salute to Veterans' Cruise
Hope to see you there and bring your friends.

Salute To Veterans Cruise

Hi all, sorry I haven't posted in quite a while but I am alive and well. The signup for the cruise is going OK. I think that people are kind of hesitant because it is so far out. As I said before, I am not allowed to post anything on Cruise Critic that is directly related to this Veterans cruise. There is a thread that is started on Cruise critic, but it is not this one. It was started by someone that was interested in the Vets cruise but when I decided not to go with one of CCs travel agencies, he started one leaving from Galveston.
Ours is leaving from Florida.
The travel agent that is handling it is Beverly at www.CruisingSmart.com
I hope that some of you can join us. She has worked really hard at getting us the best deal with the best amenities.
Let me know or contact Beverly and come on down.

thanks
Namvet

I am happy to hear that the bookings have picked up for your Veteran's cruise!

Have the prices dropped any or were they locked in by contract?

Hi Char, I am the TA for this group, so I figure I can answer this question. The prices are locked in by contract. However, current group prices for this cruise are the same as we're paying, but with less amenity points. Our price has dropped by the amount of the fuel surcharges.

To anyone who is thinking about joining us, the military rate for this cruise is somewhere between $8 and $58 cheaper per person (depending on category) than the group rate, however, you would not receive any of the group amenities.

At this time, the amenities are $100 obc per cabin, a 1 hour PRIVATE open-bar cocktail party, a group photo, plus some additional items that I am purchasing with the TC's we earn.

If you would like to book, using the military discount, I would be more than happy to oblige you. You are more than welcome to join any of our activities and I will cross-reference your booking for dining purposes, you will just not receive the amenities.

Hope that you can join us
