Do you park at the port?

For those of you who live near a port, what do you do?

Often we LIKE to DRIVE to a port in Florida! Gosh, when we drive we can take all of the luggage we wish!

ALWAYS, we park At the Port! That way we are able to leave IMMEDIATELY for home upon return!

I drive and do 2 days precruise at a hotel that has free parking and get a free shuttle from the Hotel to the port!! Then I get a cab back to the hotel after the cruise for a 1 night post cruise stay!!

My Signature Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

For our first 3 cruises we parked a the port - Ft Lauderdale- but then found ParkNFly and used it for our cruise in Dec and it was great. Right off 595 and so easy to get in and out of. No worry about the traffic in the port and if you leave from one dock and return to another no hassle of finding the right bus to take you to the right garage. Had that happen for second cruise. Pick up and delivery right at your car. Plus saves money.

Wish there was a Park N Fly in Miami. So am trying to find a good non port lot with a shuttle. So far not sure about what I've found. So few places for the port and most are valet only and we don't want to leave our keys.

I chose "Park or get dropped off, depending on how long the cruise" because that most closely described our situation.

Actually, it's more like "Park or get dropped off, depending on the departure port."

We almost always get dropped off for oPort Canaveral departures, but have to drive and park for other Florida Ports.

If the departure is not from Florida, then that's something else again.

depending on length of cruise... here in los angeles it has to be a 2 week or longer cruise for us to opt NOT to park at the pier...

Only cruise ,we left our car at the hotel we stayed in and walked a block to the terminal. This next one we will drive over the morning of departure and park at a lot a couple of blocks away and shuttle over or walk. We live only 1 1/2 hours from port.

We have done two so far with vehicles .. once in Vancouver Canada, use port parking ... they pick your car up right at the port and when your ship returns they are their with your car and vidieo tape of you vehicle ... yes it was taped 24 / 7 while you are gone.. and you can see who was by your vehicle at any and all times.. it was about $6.00 extra cost, but worth it to me...
Second time was at Seattle.. you go into the garage and they take your luggage to ship for you. And park your vehicle.. you just take your carry on's and go get on ship... very easy ... and they meet you at port and take you back to your vehicle with your bags...
Very helpful with older folks like me..

The only close port is Baltimore and we have never sailed from there. We always have to fly to our ports, last year it was to Rome, next year back to Rome and in '09, England.
