I usually get a balcony cabin so it doesn't effect me too much. I can understand why they don't allow it in the cabins though. My husband HATES smoke so I'm a little more sensitive to the situation, even though I smoke. They usually allow smoking in the bars/lounges/casinos (at least on Carnival) so I think that is ok for me.

I'm not a smoker but my husband is we book a balcony cabin or above on our cruise in Januray we had a Junior Suite. For our upcoming cruise which we are planning it will be a balcony or mini-suite, and as long as he knows where the smoking areas are on board his fine.

I never smoke in the cabins, just like I don't smoke in my house. I booked my first aft cabin for our next cruise, and I don't think I will smoke out there either, UNLESS the others around me are smoking, then I might. It doesn't bother me to have to take a walk up to the lido deck anyway.

    Veranda absolutely

I always choose a balcony room because it gives us more room. Being a smoker it is nice to sit on my balcony and not be bothered by comments from nonsmokers. Plus I always select a room down wind from my cruise companions. Laurie

I am not a smoker, however my husband does smoke. The change in policy will not have any affect on him since we always book a balcony stateroom.

My partner and I are both smokers but dont like to smoke in the cabins, balcony or not. The designated areas are more then enough. We dont even smoke inside our home but use the terrace...

That has changed since my original post. Bolero's now allows smoking at the bar and the starboard side of the lounge. Schooner Bar is now non smoking as is the pool bar. The Circuit allows smoking on the starboard side of the lounge but not the bar as it's on the port side of the ship.
