More options on favorite cruise lines.

Ok here goes. Tell us why you chose the cruiseline. What do they do for you. How is the service. How does the pricing compare. What about the food?

This is multiple choice so if you find you can't just choose one then go ahead and tell us why.

Regent - because I think they are the best.

What do they do for you.

They spoil us rotten. Not only the service, but there is no nickle-and-diming for soft drinks, bottled water, alcohol (free and lots of it), etc etc. Also, there is never any waiting in line for getting on tenders, boarding, restaurants. Also there are no pool chair hogs, rude people, misbehaving kids, drunk and obnoxious spring breakers...nothing like that. I don't know why, but it's true.

    How is the service.

Perfect. The crew is happy, friendly, fast, they remember all our preferences, anticipate our needs, go way overboard in trying to please, and they have a true "anything you want...just ask" attitude.

    How does the pricing compare.

More expensive than most; but less expensive than Silverseas or Crystal. Still, all the luxury cruiselines do cost more than the mainstream cruiselines.

    What about the food?

Our last cruise had Cordon Bleu chefs trained in Paris. The main dining room is always great, and the specialty restaurants all are included in the fare, no charge ever, and they are all as good as the best fine restaurants you'd go to on land. Really, really good. You can also order whatever you want from wherever you want as room service.

THL .... We happened to be in the same ports a couple of times on a recent Princess cruise with a Regent ship. After all of the wonderful reports the pax from that ship were giving us ... DH wants me to check into it for us. For some reason we have been getting brochures so we are aware of the pricing.

One VERY important question: Do they have Jack Daniel's? Not trying to be funny. DH would not want to sail without it.

If Jack is important to the DH then that is a big consideration for you.

I've only been on Carnival and Princess so I probably don't have much to compare. But between those two, I would say Princess. More of a variety of cruises, especially more round-trips, while Carnival has less of a variety (doesn't have RTs to Alaska or Hawaii, unless I'm mistaken).

Princess tends to have less of the pool-game type of activities. I prefer trivia to stuff the bikini, any day.

    Celebrity

We have tried a variety of mainstream lines and prefer Celebrity.
We get a consistent product. I love the champagne, mimosas, and oj upon boarding the ship as well as being taken to our cabin, it makes you feel very welcome.

The service is pleasant and prompt. We have always had great cabin stewards and dining room staff. Our preferences are remembered once we meet the person providing the service.

The food on Celebrity is much better than the other lines we have been on. The pricing is similiar to the other mainstream lines, the only draw back we have is that they have gone to less 7 day cruises and since we still work full time, the longer cruises aren't always doable.
Regent sounds wonderful, I may need to look into that line.
    Have a GREAT day! Gayla

Gayla .... Agree with you on the FOOD on Celebrity! For food Celebrity is certainly our favorite of the mass market cruise lines!

We're having a slightly different problem finding a Celebrity cruise that works for us. We want a LONGER cruise (at least 10 days) out of FLORIDA! I can't even find a B2B on the same ship that does not repeat the same itinerary ....

Julie will you please adopt me and take me with you? lol I have actually found some great deals on this cruiseline but I was never able to take the time off for the cruise. As Helen said, maybe one day.
