Do you budget for vacations and if you do, how do you split it?
I will post the first reply! We try to take two vacations a year, each about 3 weeks (now that we are older!). In between, we take a few short car trips, mostly to see relatives.
If anyone thinks I should add more options to the poll, maybe someone can help me edit.
Now that I am older, I also take more naps.....

We take at least 2 cruises a year. Sometimes I am able to get away for more.
We would like to go back to doing 4 but that may have to wait for a few years.

Since we are retired we take several longer vacations a year....mostly cruises.
We don't "budget" for them per se, but know how much in discretionary funds we have to spend and try to get the biggest bang for the buck.
This year we have 5 cruises, 1 which is a freebie won in a sweepstakes drawing on Cruise Critic.

I answered "we take multiple vacations of at least a week". As far as splitting it, we always go on one big group trip with the same friends and work associates every year. Sometimes it's a cruise and sometimes a land vacation but it's always somewhere wonderful. We then choose wherever we want to go on our own for any other trips during the year.
In answer to the other question, we probably ought to budget for these things more than we do and be a little less spontaneous!

We try to take our vacation a week at a time, any less seems too rushed. Budgeting, excuse me, whats a budget?
