I am not sure how "responsible" I was, but I suppose I was an adult at age 30.
We got them because we were told they were required for one of the ports we were visiting during our Panama Canal cruise. They changed the itinerary and it turned out we did not need them. We never went anywhere that they were required and we let them expire without renewal. 11 years after they expired we got new ones because of all the changes going on now.

I got mine in 1999 at age 55. We were going on a Caribbean cruise and I figured it would be easier that finding my birth certificate. Besides I was hoping I would soon be going where I needed one. My dad got one at age 86 to go to Paris, the only time he used it.

Before our last cruise 3 years ago. A great convenience, wish I had it sooner.

I got my for my second cruise when I was 40. We got our girl her first one at age 3, which is nice because obviously she doesn't have a drivers license.

Yes ... young child. My grandmother got it for me just in case she was able to talk my mother into letting me take a trip to London with her... so I'd be "good to go"!

Back then, my grandmother signed with no question. Now, I think, both parents have to do this for a young child.

I just renew it and keep all of my old ones ... especially, the first one from my grandmother.
