I personally take 1 dressy pair, tennis shoes and a couple of pairs of sandals. Unless we are going to a cold climate. Then I toss out the sandals and take short boots and/or loafers.

I take one suitcase just for shoes!! I am a woman and I change my mind!! Often!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Usually 1 pair and a pair of sandals. Do those count? I voted two, anyway.

My answer is "other". Most of our trips aren't to tropical locales. If they were, I could get by with a few cute flip flops, a pair of gym shoes, one pair of attractive slip-ons to go with slacks, and a pair of strappy dress shoes for formal night.

But since our trips are usually to Europe, it's more complicated. It might get cold at night...or we will be walking on lots of uneven surfaces (cobblestones or castle steps)...or doing unusal things (like riding camels or donkeys)...or I might need to look really nice but still be comfortable for ridiculously long walks just to get through a building (like a classical concert in the ballroom of a huge palace) so I need to bring lots of types of shoes for those 'just in case' situations.

I usually take 5 pairs. Actully 6 because I travel in one. 1 dressy, 1 tennis shoes, 2 sandal type and 2 croc...i sandal type, one not. Before crocs I took walking shoes also.

I think next time I will leave at least one of the pairs of sandals home. I should leave the dressy ones--as I change out of them ASAP, but I gotta have em for the dining room!!!

Do you pack them in a carry on? What would happen if THAT suitcase didn't make it to your destination?

I choose this answer - take one dressy pair, tennis shoes and a couple of pairs of sandals .
Normaly I take 4 pair. 1 Formal pair, Pair of Tennis Shoes, 1 pair casual sandals, 1 pair sandals to wear to dinner.

We normally take a total of 2 checked bags and 2 carry ons....and my very roomy travel purse..LOL! I have learned, over the years, to pack lightly.

We only take what we can manage ourselves. I cross pack and put the appropriate shoes with the clothes in each bag. I'll have 1 pr. sandals in the carry on.

So far, the only times when the bags haven't arrived on the same plane with us was when we were flying home!
