Please understand this is just an opinion! ... BUT ... PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't buy any of these for the "On Board Credits" .... Just take advantage of the tiny benefits if you happen to own any of them ....

Right on, Lulu -
Always do your homework and know about the company and its stock before making a buy.

At current prices, it would coust you $4,000 - $5,000 buy enough shares to get that $50 or $100 OBC . . .

I agree with the last few posters. Buying just for the OBC does not make as much sense as it did back in 2001 when the stocks we much lower in price. I bought primarily as a long term investment, but when the share price was 17 and I had 3 cruises booked those first $300 in OBC was a big dividend.

As far as Disney, the cruise division is such a small part of the company, it has little effect on the stock. I do own some but the last time I checked there was no cruise benefit to the stock.

Lulu is so right. Don't buy for the OBC. My stock accumalation in both RCCL and CCL was over several years and was the natural expression of my enthusiasm for cruising. Plus, getting to 100 shares allowed me to attend the stockholder's meetings. I'd make a full vacation of it. Fly down to Miami [where most meetings take place] meet the executives for the companies, stay at a hotel using a corporate rate [my one and only chance to be able to afford to stay at the Doral Country Club and Resort--YAHOOOO!!] then do a cruise, what a great time. I was about as immersed into learning and knowing about my stocks as one could be. Perhaps, had I been equally as involved in a few other investments..... ahh well.

Martysr .... We've never done this BUT have good friends (retired) who plan their vacations around Stock Holder Meetings ... various companies, not only cruise line stock!

Thanks for reminding all of us of this often "overlooked" benefit!

People here keep mentioning $50 to $100 OBC's..............but the truth is that on longer trips it's $200 and $250 OBC. Needless to say cruising 4 to 8 times per year, the OBC's add up pretty quickly.

However to purchase stock for just he OBC's, if it's one or 2 short cruises, is not worth the money.

Interesting reading. I don't own cruise stock but sure would like to but definately don't have the money to buy any large amount. Could by a share or two only.
