Our first six cruises (hubby's first seven, actually) were on Carnival, because of price, even tho' we considered RC a couple of times (one time decided against it because at the time, smoking was still allowed in their d.r.'s while not on Carnival; and the other time, it was sold out for the date we wanted) and then three straight on Princess (we did considered HAL for our Alaska cruise as they do the roundtrip, too, but neither one of us can remembered why we went with Princess).
We like the mega ships and hubby prefers newer ships. Also, if we cruising for at least a week, we want a ship with a self-service laudromat so we can wear some of our clothes more than once and pack less. (well, my hubby wants us to bring less clothes). So, there's certain lines that fit these qualifications better than others.
Are you loyal to one cruiseline or do you like to try different cruislines, either for the experience or the price?
Well Chud, so far I've cruised with Carnival and Princess, and would definitely like to try others. I will not however cruise with a line I have not cruised with in the past just to say I've cruised with them. Their itinerary decides if I cruise with them or not. The ship is also a factor, in that balconies is a must.
So far, we've cruised 12 times on 7 different lines. Most have been great, one is now defunct and we'd probably not cruise Carnival again, it just wasn't a good fit for us.
But, we intend to try different lines for as long as we can. Itinerary is most important to us, with the exception of short getaway weekends.
While loyalty is fine, we don't really need the perks that are offered, it doesn't make or break a cruise for us. RCI has come out ahead of the rest of the pack for us because of price, well appointed ships and itineraries we like. We prefer smaller, older ships to the mega floating resorts, that's to our advantage, they usually offer better prices!
I love HAL, and enjoyed RCCL, Celebrity and Disney when I sailed them. We are booked on the Infinity and Emerald Princess within the next year, so we are welcome to trying new lines although I have 152 days on HAL, and plan to keep cruising with them too.

I've sailed with Carnival, Celebrity, and Princess (so far). I'm not loyal to anyone of them. I will go with whichever cruise line has the best itinerary and price. I'm looking at RCCL for next year but that hasn't been finalized yet.
I want to try everything. The only one I've tried so far that I will not return to is NCL. And that was BEFORE Freestyle.
Why won't you go back to NCL? Please tell us all about it...that's how we learn, right?

I usually go for the interary and price. We try and cruise twice a year so price is important. Celebrity, RCL and NCL so far.

I chose the last option. Although the majority of our cruises have been on Princess, I would still go back to NCL or RCI or any of the others, depending on the itinerary and price. We do prefer the open dining option though, so Princess fits our needs nicely.
