Usually check for the ports we want then see who has the best deals on those ports so thats why I picked ports.

I must say Hal and Celelebrity are my favoeites with Hal a little above Celebrity in the favorite department

We have cruised a number of cruise lines and settled in with Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. They both offer a good cruise at a reasonable price.

There is one line that we would not cruise with again and there are several that we have not cruised with yet. If and when those lines offer something that we like we would sail them.

The ship is pretty much the reason we cruise, not the ports anymore, so the shipboard experience is most important.

Looks like I am the only one to select completely loyal to one cruise line. I have to admit we did cruise on RCL for 2 cruises and actually our very first one but.... here is my theory on this. I work hard like everyone does. Both DH and I have been on our jobs a very long time so we each get 4 weeks of vacation a year and have learned how to get the most of those days. Before we got hooked on cruising we loved to go to Hawaii, we had our favorite places in Kailua-Kona (Big Island) and Wailea Maui. For several years friends kept telling us we were missing out by not going to Kauai so we plan a 7 day trip to Kauai, we choose a nice ocean view room at the Sheraton. We get there and we HATE IT. I will not go into details but there were so many things we disliked about the island, the resort and don't even get me going about the chickens .After day 3 we kept saying "Get us OFF this Island" I even went to the internet to see if we could catch a flight and get in at our favorite resort on the Big Island. Unfortunately everything was booked. I know that I am going to get bashed here by those who think Kauai is great but it just was not for us.

So based on the above we love Holland America, we love that their ships are not overly crowded, and that they are not floating Las Vegas resorts, and that we do not have to trip over hundreds of kids, we find the food great and the crew and service wonderful. I am sure that there are many other cruiselines that are equally as good if not better but ..... because we always book a suite I do not want to spend $4000+++ money for 7 days only to wish that we would have booked that cruise on Holland America. I know that we are most likely missing out but we know what we like and we are not big risk takers. Now if we could just try a 3 or 4 day repo cruise on Celebrity Millinium I might do that to try it but so far have not found one.

So based on the above we love Holland America...

You lost me somewhere. What does not enjoying Kauai have to do with the fact that you love Holland American best? (PS - I agree with you, the Big Island and Maui are way more fun...but I liked the chickens!)

What I was trying to explain is we have learned our lesson on recommendations and stay with our instincts. We already know we LOVE HAL so we are not willing to try anything else because our luck will be that will be not be happy and wish we were on a HAL ship. We do not want to waste a week of vacation wishing the whole week we would have been on HAL. Tom and I are both very much creatures of habit and cruising the same ship and same itinerary are just fine with us. We occasional spice it up and go to Alaska

I look at finding a cruise line sort of like dating. You need to "date" as many lines as possible until you find the one you cant live without. Then you marry her and stay loyal to her for about 50 years of so. Then you die, and your widow spends all the money you left her "dating" different lines with that dam widower insurance agent down the street!

Please share with us your comparison of Hal to Celebrity. In what way do you find Hal a little above Celebrity? Thanks.

We are very loyal to RCCL and since they also own Celebrity, I guess you could say we're loyal to 2 cruise lines. Between the two, we've always been able to find the exact cruise for us and since their loyalty program is interchangeable, we are able to receive the special perks no matter which cruise line we choose.
