We have never utilize the specialty dinner rooms on any of our cruises. I guess it's because we treat each meal in the regular dining room as special.

What about you? Why do you go to a specialty dining room? What is different about the experience?

Although we have cruised many times on the Celebrity Millenium class ships (now most of you know what this means!!!), we chose to dine in the specialty restaurant only once, which was on our last cruise and that was because it was our anniversary.

To be honest, we feel there is too much hype about these venues. Although most cruisers will disagree, I felt that the experience was about the staff rather than about us! I got the feeling that they were "full of themselves" because they were chosen to work in a 5 star restaurant!!!They made a big deal about it being 5 star!

For starters, we ordered (at their suggestion) the goat cheese soufflée. To me it tasted exactly like manicotti. I think the waiter was insulted when I told him. It was rich and I didn't want to finish it. I felt guilty, like I was insulting the host!!!!

The food was good, but not so wonderful that we would bother to spend the money on a regular basis. The room was very pretty and appealing. The waiters were too " in your face".

I guess it's worth a try. At least once. To see what you are missing!!! But I was not so impressed.

I wanted to vote twice for this poll. Yes, we use the specialty restauarants. And Yes, we never pay extra. They are free on Regent (Radisson), no extra charge at all. And they're reallllllly good!

We've never felt the need to try the specialty restaurants. We've always found the food in the main dining room to be excellent!

We always go to the Pinnacle Grill on HAL ships at least a couple of times each cruise.

Love their filets, lamb chops and chocolate volcano cake.

I ate in the specialty restaurant on the Constellation for my Father's birthday last September. What a wonderful experience. The staff, food and service was excellent and I can't wait to try it again.
