Not for me! I enjoy the fantastic variety of cuisines on cruise ships.

No cooking or cleaning, you can eat "healthy" or not-so-healthy, haute cuisine or burgers and hotdogs. Gotta love it!
In the Buffet, I see many things there that I eat at home. However, in the Main Dining Room I want to try something different.
The one thing I missed on the Crown Princess, that we had on both our Carnival cruises were the Omlettes made to order. They were pre cooked and there were no egg white omlettes which is what I wanted.
On some Princess ships, there are made to order omelettes at breakfast time. Hubby had them every day made without yolks on the Island Princess.

[quote=Blizzard;640341]I like the variaty at dinner. I do eat things that we do not have at home, like lamb. DW does not allow it in the house.
There's got to be a story behind that. Did someone have a bad lamb experience as a child?

You know what's funny...nearly everybody said "no way...we don't home style food on a cruise". But when I am sitting with strangers at a table or going through a buffet line, I see people piling up their plates with mostly familiar foods like shrimp and crab, prime rib, baked potatoes, green salad with the usual ranch dressing...etc.
I am often the only person at the table that got the wierd stuff like the pickled lentil and eel salad. OK, I made that one up...but you know what I mean...

I love to learn about new foods, but DH is not into foreign cuisines at all. Unless it has jalapenos, onions, and salsa involved.
One time we were in a specialty restaurant on a cruise and his beef entree came with foie gras. He wasn't sure what that was, but he wanted that beef so I said oh good ahead, you might like it. After he finished his dinner I let him say how great it was before I told him he just ate goose liver!

Actually, cruise ships do have quite a bit of "regular food". Sometimes, we enjoy getting home and having it the way I fix it.
