Would You Book with an Unregistered TA

About a year ago I discovered that many TA's are not registered in their state. They fly below the radar cause there are so many, but if reported to the Attorney General it will be investigated. Different rules apply in each state. Do you check with your TA when you book, does it matter???
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Good question. I haven't ever thought about it. I didn't realize there was a registration for TA's.

I never knew! I've checked and my TA is registered. Good info to know!

What she told me was the host agency has insurance for this, but the insurance company will look for a loophole, in the case of no regisration, the company oes not have to pay, so the complainer has to sue the trave agent!!

Good information to know. I never use TA's except for the major online services, if they count. I normally get the prices off the net and make the arrangements myself.

I never heard of an unregistered travel agent. There are "outside agents" who work from home. They work for an agency, though. Would that be what you mean?

I'm an outside sales travel agent. All that means is that I don't actually work
in an office. I work for a full service local travel agency that is a registered seller of travel. I work under their license to sell travel as would an agent working in their office.

Sue, when I used a Travel Agent years ago, before booking my own..I never thought about this. It was a brick and mortar agency...there was a framed State registration on the wall.

Now, I am an independent contractor. I, like Reggie, work out of my home...I am registered with the State I reside and work from. It is required. As an independent contractor I signed to work with a network, there are over 4,000 of us with them, and have industry affiliations, CLIA card, and more. Continuing education is important as well....to keep current with the changes and updates within the travel industry.

Not sure if this is what you meant...
