We are booking longer and longer cruises. However, since we like to have either a pre-cruise or a post-cruise stay (or both!!!), we really can't cruise for more than 14 days, and that's cutting it thin.
Looking forward to retirement! (many years form now, LOL.)

Started with 2 nighters, went to 3, then 7. It was hard for a 7, not a lot of time. Went to 10 and 11 nighters, you know what? It's still hard to get off the ship! Now for my possibly dumb question, what is a segmented cruise?
We've been on 3, 4, 7 and 15 day cruises. Mostly out of San Pedro as it's a 50-mile drive from our home. When I was working, I often had jobs with the bare minimum of vacation days so 7-day cruises or less were better. Hubby, on the other hand, works for the city where he gets a ton of vacation. He just can't accumulate more than a certain amount of hours without losing them. And there's not a problem of getting to take longer vacations (say two or more weeks at a time), which was a problem for me.
So now we're able to combine sightseeing with a week-long cruise if desired. Our only real limitation is fitting in vacations with our daughter's school schedule. The 15-day cruise fit wonderfully within her winter break last year.
As for the longer cruise, there were some people by that 15th day who were ready to get off the ship. With shorter cruises, (3 or 4 day), by the time you learn your way around, you're preparing to leave. And the first day is spent getting on the ship and the last day, packing and getting that my-cruise-is-ending feeling.

Mid-year, I really enjoy a 4 night cruise on Monarch of the Seas, just to make waiting for the longer one more bearable. It's nearby, it's a great getaway, and it's SO relaxing.
We're leaving on our first longer-than-7-days cruise next Saturday, so I'll let you know when we get back--but, I'm pretty sure I'm going to LOVE it!

No dumb questions anwhere.
The repositioning of the Star Princess that year was done in three segments. The last segment was Vancouver b.c., the middle segment went from San Diego to Vancouver. I can't remember where it was probable went through the canal.
My sister wanted to take it from San Diego to Seattle but they wouldn't let her. She could take the San Diego to Vancouver or the Vancouver to Seattle but not both.
