I don't but daughters do!! They book through the cruiseline cause we sail in October, and if itinerary changes they are covered!!

My Signature Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Past Cruises Most people walk into and out of your life . . . but FRIENDS leave footprints in your heart

We book independently. We've had some really great excursions that the ships don't offer, and even if we end up going to the same place, it's usually cheaper and we have a small group so it's easier to manage. The private tours seem more personable and they want your business so will bend over backwards to make the tour enjoyable.

I look at both private tours and cruise line tours. Decide from there what it is I really want to do while on land. And then find the tour that will give me the most of what I want. I have done both private tours and ship tours. Both have pros and cons.

Same as most other answers, I do both. Lots of times, we go out on our own, no excursion at all. It depends on the port though. In Jamacia, I always go with a ship excursion, as I just don't feel safe there. I more often book something on my own than go with the cruiseline excursion as I know they always cost more through the cruiseline.

We always look after ourselves, but always keep in mind it then becomes your responsiblity to get back to the ship on time.

I'd have to say both, but I think the best excursions we've done were ones we booked independently. Cheaper, and smaller groups.
