On my most recent cruise to Alaska, in Ketchikan due to the number of ships in port, we were forced to tender. The tender system didn't work out so well.
We got in the tender line about 1.5 hours before all aboard. The line was LONG! It wasn't running very well. And to boot, at the time we were tendering there was 2 ships leaving, which tender operations needed to be suspended for, and another ship coming in to dock, which we had to suspend tender operations for as well.
I waited nearly 2 hours for a tender that day.
Those who returned from ship shore excursions, not more than 30 minutes before all aboard waited 2-3 hours for their tender.
Needless to say, we left Kechikan that day over 3+ hours behind our scheduled departure time!
