What is the longest you've ever waited for a tender?

People often complain about waiting in line for tenders.. tenders from the ship to shore and from shore to ship.

What is the longest you've ever waited?

Less than 10 minutes!! We don't go into port until after lunch and there has always been a tender waiting!! When we are in port, we can see the dock and when we see a tender coming we start going to the dock and board!!

My Signature Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

On my most recent cruise to Alaska, in Ketchikan due to the number of ships in port, we were forced to tender. The tender system didn't work out so well.

We got in the tender line about 1.5 hours before all aboard. The line was LONG! It wasn't running very well. And to boot, at the time we were tendering there was 2 ships leaving, which tender operations needed to be suspended for, and another ship coming in to dock, which we had to suspend tender operations for as well.

I waited nearly 2 hours for a tender that day.

Those who returned from ship shore excursions, not more than 30 minutes before all aboard waited 2-3 hours for their tender.

Needless to say, we left Kechikan that day over 3+ hours behind our scheduled departure time!

Red face

Once in Grand Cayman, one heck of a storm came up quickly and it took FOREVER to tender us back to the ship!

Our children NOW think of it as one of their favorites: "Remember the time we were stuck in Grand Cayman and had to wait until late that night and how sick people were on the tender ...."

On the last cruise, we were on a ship excursion so we were on one of the first tenders of the day. We didn't wait until the last minute to take a return tender. Which turned out to be a good decision: our tablemates at dinner said the tender lines were huge when they showed up a half hour before sailaway.

Usually, we don't have an excursion so we don't feel any hurry to get to shore. We can wait until there isn't any line.
