Thread: Was there ever a port you really disliked?

The port we liked least was Constanta, Romania. We had a bad experience there with a gang of pickpockets, and it left a very bad taste in our mouths.

If you do you to this port, DO NOT PUT YOUR WALLET IN YOUR BACK POCKET, gentlemen! Buttoning your pocket is NOT a deterent.

If you go to the mall, stay in a group, do not go off by yourself. Do NOT let the children distract you. Do not talk to anyone other than your tour guide, people from the ship or the person working inside the store. The mall is a training ground for pickpockets, and the children are only there to learn the trade, and to help their confederates get your money.

When we had the opportunity to go back on another cruise, we stayed on the ship.

It's a real shame, since there is great history there.

Really a shame when a town gets a reputation like that. For it to be that bad, the police have to be in on it.

I suspect that the police have a tacit agreement about where they will and won't patrol. There isn't enough people to control the situation, and there isn't enough funding to provide services to the people who live off of crime to convince them to live another way.
