Well, I answered my own question and yes, I would go on a all heterosexual cruise. In fact I do all the time I actually prefer it that way. I would never go on a gay cruise.
Just to play the Devil's advocate, I have never seen a cruise advertised as an all heterosexual cruise. I have seen gay coupkes and singles on all of the cruises that I have taken and on many occasions have had a great time with many of them. Just really not an issue as far as I'm concerned.

Hey Reg,
I think its an interesting double-standard that exists in society, almost inherently. Flip the situation on its head: Homosexual couples would never be able to claim damages because they were placed on an all-Hetero cruise.
My reasoning for having some sympathy for the couple in question, is that the ship appears to have been almost fully booked by a large group, with very specific activities and themes. Had the ship been larger or less solidly booked with members of the Group Cruise, I would have LESS sympathy for the couple. but it would appear that Grimaldi misled them.
Well I think people are sue hapoy. Would you get money in court if your flight was full of gays or a very large drunk obnoxius group?? A hotel if there was a massive group yelling and screaming day and night?? A train full of any other race or religious group?? NO!! If you are planning any type of travel, suck it up, you deal with what is there. The world is a smaller place and that is a reality.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

I ask YOU, Cruise Line Fans, "How would you feel if you were this couple?" and "What might you do to try and mitigate the 'situation'?" Is this an anti-gay & lesbian issue or is it simply a matter of non-disclosure by a negligent cruise line?
i gotta tell you .. That if it was me and was not told in advance that my reservation was for a theme cruise.. I would be highly ticked off as well..
I Don't care if its adult themed, music themed, or (you pick a theme)
It is my feeling that a cruise line and its representatives should have disclosed this up front .. much the same way at dinner here in the US if you ask for Coke to drink the server may say we serve Pepsi.. is that ok..
Not informing a future guest of a known theme is irresponsible. The couple should be compensated in some maner..(however I don't want to speculate what it should be.)
As far as this being a gay cruise.. we wouldn't booked that either...as a matter of fact I am pressed to think of ANY "themed" cruise we WOULD like to participate in..

Thanks so much for the well-crafted response.
I'm so glad to have your perspective included in this discussion. Its like I say above, Grimaldi surely should have said something to hetero couple pre-booking...and the matter underlines an inherent lack of equality in the way society thinks...I just think you're more even-keeled than most (as is Lars)...and have an excellent attitude.
I do think Sue Miller highlights another interesting aspect of the matter? The over-litigious nature of folks all over the world. I would be interested to learn the result of the couple's claim.
I will try and do some more checking and see if we can't find something.
Cheers Joey...thanks for chiming in. And thanks to all that have chimed in here...I am so glad we can discuss what I deem to be important social issues and cruising, all at once and with respect and intelligence. Kudos CLFers.

I did want to add another thought to this discussion... "they"( the sellers of cruises) should mention it to ANY Person that is booking this or any other cruise that is a themed cruise.. that in fact this is a themed cruise.. regardless of how the guest "appears" to the seller.
It is not part of their job description to pre-qualify or pre eliminate any guest based on their own perceptiopn....and Other than asking straight out(forgive the pun) who is to know who is gay who is straight..who is tolerant and who is leaning toward bigotry..
We all have been guilty of assuming..
Just because men and woman, or two men or two women..traveling together .doesn't mean they are married, engaged, lovers or even friends..we need to move past the notion of accepting what appears to be... as is..
Our members are awesome Tim, that is why CLF is so special, respect for each other's opinions As an aside,I had 2 daughters fly home, both on different carriers, neither non stop and both were delayed for a long time and got back to Massachussets very late at night after a cruise a week ago. NO compensation was offered because of it. In todays world it is expected.
