Do you stay in formal clothes after dinner on formal night??

I don't like formal night..........but I do wear a tux on longer cruises and a nice dark suit on shorter cruises. I do this for the DW who enjoys formal night.

But after dinner the tux comes off..........and get back into casual clothes.

Do you stay formal...........or go back to casual..........after dinner.

Not if we are just going to the show. If we are mingling about the ship we keep them on.

Sorta in the middle, I do get out of the formal, but I change into something dressy but more comfy!! I don't wear shorts at night. Dickie stays in his shirt and dress pants, but ditches the jacket and tie!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Sure, I keep it on. Why bother changing? It's not the wearing of the tux, it's all the bother of changing clothes. Once I'm dressed, I'm dressed.

Besides, it's a formal night, not just a formal dinner.

I'm with you , Jim....I don't like formal night, but I follow the dress code for the evening. My husband wears a dark suit, but takes the jacket off after dinner. My formal dress is so comfortable, so I just stay in formal. I bring one long, black skirt and have different dressy blouse to wear with it. HAL is pretty fussy about staying in formal for the evening, and most folks do just that on that line. I've heard the saying that the big "whoosh" you hear after dinner on a Princess cruise is everyone taking off their formal clothes after dinner and going casual.

Kathy, we go to the Wheelhouse every night and everyone in there on our cruises are still dressy. A lot like me, not the formal gowns, but not casual either!! That is why we love the atmosphere.

In the past I've always worn a dark suit on formal night(s), but on our next cruise I think it'll be a rental tux. I have no problem keeping the suit on after dinner. We generally eat around 8pm, so by the time we're done it's pretty late anyway. We may go to the late show if we're interested in it, or a lounge. I've never worn a tux before, so I'm not sure how comfortable (or uncomfortable) they are. The bottom line is it's just a few hours out of your cruise, so why not grin and bear it?
