Because we usually extend any cruise with land touring, I pack an iron for use either pre or post cruise. I'm not so skilled a packer to manage to avoid creases.

On HAL we bought a $40 unlimited pressing package for our 30 day cruise. It proved to be a good deal for us as I'd rinse out things and then send them for pressing. I used the iron a couple of times on an extended Celebrity cruise.

We'll be bringing one along this winter on our brief 9 day NCL cruise. I suppose we might have it taken until we leave but with three weeks pre and post cruise, I'll need to use it.

We had carry a iron on a cruise ever since our first cruise, because it was not easy going to the ironing room only to meet long lines.

Travel Irons -- or even regular irons (and I have seen them in cabins on ships) - are a fire hazzard.

So I always tell people "Please don't bring an iron on your cruise".

Some ships have self-service laundry rooms where you can iron something -- these exist on the R and S class ships on HAL.

For the Vista and Singnature class ships on HAL -- they are reasonable laundry and pressing services -- either by the bag or for the cruise.

I agree that travel irons could be a fire hazard and I don't iron at home, let alone on a cruise ship

I'm curious though, what is the difference between a travel iron and a curling iron or hair straightener? Does it have something to do with the automatic shut-off features? or lack of them?

Most of the travel irons that I have seen do not have an automatic shut off feature.

Careful packing and handing your clothes in the bathroom with steam from hot showers usually does the trick. The laundry service is very good on board but it's a good idea to take along a Sards Wonderstick to treat any stains as they occur. The best thing about the Wonderstick is you don't have to launder for 7 days after application - very handy.

Ah we have never brought an iron .. It's cheap enought to just send it down to have it Ironed . That way there is no need to worry about how the packing is done before you leave to go on your cruse and worry about things getting wrinkled and also you don't have to waist any of your time doing it.

We always send out whatever we need to have pressed.

Would take forever to have the steam in the bathroom remove wrinkles.
