    Casual Dress for Dining Room

I understand what Formal is, and I understand Smart Formal. (as RCCL puts it) But what is exactly casual?

Casual to me is a pair of jeans, high heels, and a nice blouse, and jewelry.

Is that casual, or should I get dress pants. I am fine either way and am comfortable in anything. But I don't want to look sloppy.

So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi rminde - casual is just what you described it without the jeans and with the dress pants.
Ofcourse also variations of the "blouse theme" - knit sweaters, cardigans etc..You ladies know more about this then me. I only observe..

As described above casual is casual like work...

However, I have never been stopped walking in with jeans and a nice dress type shirt. However, you will notice some people dress up every night, even on "casual" nights people do look quite sharp at times...

Of course there should be other dining options so you do not HAVE to go to the dining room every night.

When I think of cruise casual, I think of resort casual. Capris pants for the ladies, or light slacks...khakis for men. Although many resorts include shorts in the mix.

Casual nights for men might include a linen outfit (shirt and pants) or a pair of khakis and a polo or short sleeve button down shirts.

On RCCL some do wear jeans to dinner on Casual Nights.

Note: Bare feet, short pants, and tank tops are not permitted at dinner. Those are the only rules!

To me, it would depend on the itinerary. I didn't bring jeans on my two Caribbean cruises as it would be too hot to wear them. Jeans fit in well on an Alaskan cruise (for day wear, esp. on some excursions). Did wear jeans during the day on my Hawaiian cruise as I knew the first few days were going to be cool and one day on an excursion. But at night I wore sundresses or gauzy skirts, not the jeans. But then our ship didn't have "casual" nights, just "smart casual" and "formal."

Yeah, I am always in jeans and flip flops for my every day casual look. So I am in dire need of some fun skirts and shorts. Thank goodness my cruise is in December and all of that stuff will be on clearance. Woohoo!

Hmm, well, I work in the computer industry in Washington state, so jeans are my normal "business casual" look.

I do plan on wearing fun and flirty stuff on the cruise, and I have enough dress up clothes to do ultra formal for both formal nights, regular formal the rest of the nights, and really dressed up for lunch, once or twice
