One for the ladies...
Do you wear stockings/pantyhose when you dress for formal night dinners?
Does the rule apply...
Closed shoes...yes
open shoes...no
Thanks for your thoughts on the subject.

It depends on how much of my pasty white legs will be showing! If the skirt is shorter than about mid-calf, I wear closed-toe shoes and off-black stockings. If the skirt is nearly full-length, I will go with bare legs (with closed or open shoes.)
I don't care for the look of stockings with open-toe shoes.

Of course - I wouldn't dream of going formal with naked legs!
(don't even do that for work)
No on either pantyhose/stockings. I hate them and my skin hates them too.

Even since I left the world of public relations where I had to dress in a suit most days, I've tried to avoid wearing hose. After that, I've worked in a jeans and leggings type of place (also too cold in our office to wear dresses and skirts with pantyhose) for about 8 years. If I need to wear pantyhose, I have to scounge around in my unmentionables drawer to see if I have a pair, and then hope it fits (I seem to be inbetween the smallest sizes heightwise, and the more expensive brands never fit either around the ankle).
On my last cruise, I wore sandals on even formal nights, even when wearing cocktail length dresses and ditched the stockings.

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.
I bring the panty hose with me. I don't always wear them though. It all depends on the dress, if I have a tan.... If the dress is long I might even wear knee highs. It all depends. It would also depend are you talking about a caribbean cruise or an Alaska cruise.

I don't wear nylons anymore, even with short dresses. I just don't like them. On formal nights I wear open toed wedgies and bare legs, works for me.
Until this new job I have always worn uniforms with duty shoes and anklets. I wore pants all winter at new job. Have found out we can wear capris (or whatever you call them now) and will wear sandles with them and no nylons, even if I wear a dress (which is very unlikely).
