Question Do your Hands and Feet SWELL on Cruises?

    MINNIE MOUSE SYNDROME!

As soon as I even get near a cruise ship, my hands and feet begin swelling!

Does anyone else have this problem?

    Nope never happened to me!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

My mom's feet and ankles have in the past (her first few cruises) but on her last 2 cruises they haven't.

I swell up, but I feel the cause is dietary intake changes. At home or work I chug-a-lug coffee, and you know what that does. On a cruise, my salt intake is drastically increases due to eating all day, even though I may not salt my food. It's fluid retention, change in activity etc.

Sometimes towards the end of the cruise, but I think it is due more to the heat that the food I am eating.

Yes and it is due to the increased salt intake. I stay this way until I get home.

I am sure they would if I wasn't on a handful of heart meds including a diurectic daily! I also make sure to drink bottled water if I am thirsty and make sure to drink plenty of water.
I do suffer from the Santa Clause Complex though as my tummy swells on a cruise and it's from all the food I ingested.

At some point we MUST sail on the same ship! You can be Mrs.Santa Clause and I'll be Minnie Mouse!

It will have to be a Southern Caribbean so we can look especially attractive with our tummies and FAT hands/feet in our snorkel gear!

Will we scare away all of the fish?

Both of mine swell but my feet swell more than my hands.

They end up looking like Hobbitt feet!!

As has been mentioned above, it's the salt in the food! So much more than what we are accustomed to eating at home. The breads and the salad dressings are notoriously sodium filled. When we eat a nice healthy salad for lunch we undo all the good by putting on those delicious dressings!

Another thing that will cause swelling (at least for me!) is the increased alcohol intake. By the end of the cruise my face and eyelids show how much fun I'm having!! LOL!
