    Where to buy formalwear

Although my first cruise isn't until July , I have been looking around for my formal gowns. Any suggestions on where to shop? I need something in the larger sizes 18-20 (again ) and don't want to spend too much. Where do you ladies buy your dresses? Help!

    Dillards Sale Rack or Ross

Dillards always has beautiful plus size gowns, and if you can find one on the 75% off rack they are a real steal.

I just got a formal pant suit for my MIL a few weeks ago on sale for 27.50. It was black silk and chiffon with bronze beading. She's an 18-20 and she said it fit great except for the length and had a tailor fix that. So she is all set for her cruise next week.

Ross carries plus size too, so you might get lucky and find something there under $40.

I bought many of my formals from Robinsons-May....I don't know what will happen with their lines since their buy-out by Macy's, but Macy's may have taken over their lines.

If there is a Deb Shop in your area, they have some nice things in various sizes. Even some bridal shops will have some formals..best deals would probably be after the prom season....that's what i'm going to check out.

I've bought formal dresses at Ross for as little as $20. Ebay is another good place but only buy from sellers with a 99+ approval rating. Department store outlet stores, such as JC Penney are also a good bet, if you have one in your area.

Welcome to CLF!!!! I LOVE consignment shops!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.
