That is a very tough question to answer. It really depends on how your personality and expectations would fit in with the life, and what department would be of interest. I suggest contacting one (or more) of the lines and asking about the options and conditions.

Well im a very social and friendly person...i have a lot of patience, put people before myself most of the time and i get along with most people. I love learning new cultures, languages (learning Spanish at the moment) and meeting new people. Im thinking about doing photography on the ship but ill also waiter, do "tours" with people or work in shops. Im thinking about this job because im not sure what i wanna go study so i think a year off working would help me decide...and i get to see the world while doing it. But thanx for your advice ill definitely use it! Take care![]()
you are welcome , ask any questions , people are very friendly and keen to help here.![]()

What most people do not realize is that a job on a cruise ship is a lot of work. Long days and nights with very few days off - and then much of that time is spent sleeping.
If you do not have your sights set too high in thinking that it is a glamorous job, go for it! And best of luck in getting it.
Yeah...ive heard that its hard work...guess any work even life is hard! Do you need qualifications to work on the ships or can you go work with no expierce or qualifications?? You need to speak English right, but does having other language abilities help you out? What work would you advice for someone who is just starting out...money doesnt have to be that high?? Sorry for all the questions!
You need is a good personality , a liking of people is a definite asset , toierance for hard work and long hours, a positive attitude, lots of patience. I don't think any academic requirements are neccessary, any additional languages are an asset but I doubt they would be a requirement.

I would also suggest (if you haven't already done so) you take a cruise and take the oportunity to observe the staff and talk to them.
