You need qualifications in most of the jobs.
What do you want to do???
If you start out as a runner/bus boy in the restaurant you do not need experience but its hard work.
Maybe you can start as cruise staff.....
The best thing for you to do is to contact all the cruise lines as they have different guide lines as to who they want to employ.
As for do you need experience, I would say that other than for some housekeeping positions that yes you would need either experience or good training.
My grandson answered an ad for housekeeping for NCL and when he went for interview they decided that with his experience and training he quailfied for assistant cook. He did get that job and is working 9 hours a day/ seven days a week. He is sort of lucky in that his hours do allow him to get off the ship any day they are in port as long as he is able to be awake. His contract is for 5 months, so that is a lot of straight working without a day off. If he decides to do another contract he will have one month off to be at home. Then go back for at least another 5 months.
So there are really a lot of things to think about even prior to applying for a job on a cruise ship.

Neal, he is working on the ship now. Sat will be the start of his second month. He is having a hard time so we keep encouraging him as much as we can, with phone calls, even if we have to just leave him a message. Also he only just sent his address so we are all trying to send him funny cards just to make him laugh.
He has never been away from home before and has not had to share a room since he was 6.
The one good thing is he did make a couple of freinds the first training week and he is able to get off the ship in port. He works 7pm to 4 am as an assistant cook and is actually cooking. He does not mind the work hours so that is good.

Neal, he would really like to become a pastry chef. We have all told him that if he can get in a good place that does that kind of work he can work his way in to a position that he can learn it.
And yes as long s he can work the full contract with NCL it will be very good on his resume.
