Get A Job on a Cruise Ship!

We get a lot of one-off questions about employment aboard cruise ships and within cruise line organizations.

As a result, I thought I would start a running list of some resources we might be able to offer our members.

    Job Openings:

    Carnival Jobs

    Costa Cruises Jobs

    Disney Cruise Jobs

    P&O Jobs

    Linblad Expeditions Jobs

    Norwegian Cruise Jobs

    Regent Seven Seas Jobs

    Royal Caribbean Jobs

    Silversea Jobs

Please feel free to add more links, resources and advice based upon your past experiences. I know we have some ex-cruise line employees out there that may be able to offer some good advice.

    Thanks!

    Hi all,

I worked as Purser for 3 years with Carnival so happy to provide some information.

Lenty - depending on the cruise line and the position you are going for you need to be either 18 or 21. Some of the cruise companies will not hire until you are 21 but if you are going with a concession company eg. gift shop, spa they will hire at 18 years - but keep in mind they may not serve you alcohol in the crew bar depending on how strict they are.

Toshi, I am not sure of how the structure is for cabin stewards on a river cruise, but it is very likely that you will work quite hard :-) You will normally start off training or as an assistant to one of the other cabin stewards and have to prove you are suitable to then work the cabins yourself. You work long hours normally starting early in the morning for 4 or so hours and then again in the evening for another 4-5 hours. You will receive a minimum wage and rely heavily on tips so you must be confident of your ability to be able to work hard, be on demand and make friends with the guests! If you become their friend they will love you for life :-)

    Good luck!
