Thread: Can i get a job on a cruise liner ?

Hi Guys and Gals

I a 27 year old male from the UK and im very interested in working on a cruise ship. The problem i think i may have is, that i have a criminal record for assualt about 5/6 years ago.

Does anyone know of any cruise workers that had a criminal record and still got a job ? Do all cruise liners do a criminal check ?

Im looking for a job because i am sick of living here in the UK, i am self employed and make good money but id like a change. Has anyone gotton a Visa with criminal record so you could work on a ship ?

Any advice would be great

Not sure but you need to check with the individual cruise line.....Most/some cruise lines will do a check up and you would also need a clean record for the visas for the various country you will be visiting....(you will need seamans working visas for many country including USA,Australia and some Asian countries - those are the strict once)

Is there any cruise ships that just travel around europe only ? This way just in case i couldnt get a Visa for USA etc

I have sent a few emails to some of the UK recruitment agencies to see what they say. Does anyone know of cruise liners that dont check your criminal record ? As i would like to prove i can do a job on a ship, all i need is my foot in the door.

Some of the Costa ships cruises in Euope only, so does MSC Cruises BUT tho they are cruising in this area now you never know when they will change their itineraries.
Also, you can not request a ship to work on - the company will send you to the ship that needs the position you have applied for.

Its not good -I have said it before and I will say it again: NEVER USE A SITE THAT PROMISES TO GET YOU A JOB ON A SHIP AND TAKES YOUR MONEY!11

You can do all the work applying for jobs and getting the job by yourself and for free.

It doesnt promise to get you a job, its a course that i could add onto my CV to show that i am commited to getting a job onboard.
