Thread: Need a Job in cruise

Hi Everyone,
My name is Chandan and I am 29 yrs old single unmarried.
Now currently from past 4 yrs I have been working in a call centre for Microsoft Games & Home & Hardware Process in Mumbai.
I work as a Technical customer support executive and help the international customers for their games, GPS issues, keyboard and mouse as well as some of their computer issues technically.
My ambition is to work in cruise but I do not have any 1 in my family or friends who can guide me as no one works in cruise.
I would like to work in cruise as I don’t know which job /post I would be fit for. So need some guidance from you people?
I am physically fit and fine and my height is 6’1’’. My weight is 80 kgs. I have done my 12th STD passed out 12 yrs back and I am an undergraduate.
Speaking about my family only me and my mom is there who is a heart patient so I have to take great care of her.
Now one day I think I would get a better job as working in a call centre juz gives me 250-300$ and not more than that even if I do plenty of hard work.
I need some help from you guys as I have not done any courses as I do not know if at this age I will get a job in cruise or no. Here in Mumbai many agencies take bribe but still they do not give jobs.
So if anyone of you has got any reference in Mumbai and can get me into cruise line and get me a good pay I would really be grateful to you.
You must know as the prices of all the things are increasing in the market so it’s very hard to survive in just a little amount of money. Tomorrow in future if I get married I would need more money to take care of my wife and kids as this much would not be enough.
Every month I have to work 5 -7 days extra to get a salary up till 300$. That is the only way I survive otherwise I cannot.
I would really appreciate if anyone of you could guide me to a proper channel by giving them your reference. If you need any more details about me then let me know.

Hi Chandan,

If you are williing to work from the bottom up then there a lot of positions that may suit you. Cruise lines are always looking for people who are interested in working as a bar tender, housekeeping steward or waiter. You definitely need to be physically fit because you are on your feet all day. The pay to start is very minimal as you train and as a crew member you are responsible for the cost of yoiur flights to and from the ship. However, if you are very personable and friendly then you may be placed in a position that will provide good tips, eg, drinks waiter, assistant waiter, assistant cabin steward - please be aware that this does take some time though and you will need to first past through training, with Carnival this is one month.

I'm sorry I am not aware of any contacts in India - but I would suggest looking on Facebook as there are quite a few facebook pages dedicated to crew members who may be able to help you out with your questions. I would also look at the cruise line websites as there also some positions you can apply for directly with the company.
