Hi Danielle. We're so happy to have you here on CLF. I'm also a Celebrity and Royal Caribbean cruiser. I was on the Quest for it's first crossing in April. She's a great ship and what a wonderful staff she has! I'll be on the Connie transatlantic in September (She's my favorite ship).

It's always nice to hear the other side of cruise life. We did have someone taking us through NCL America training.

I haven't been on any RC or Celebrity ships, but am considering applying for a job at Princess HQs (I live about 30 freeway miles away) in a couple of years, if there's still jobs at Santa Clarita then, when hubby retires from his current job. Hubby is thinking about checking out getting musician gigs when he is free from workin' for the City (and it's not a "good job").

hi there. Getting a job on a ship is as an entertainer is one of the best. You get a lot of time off and really dont do much work at all. The down side of this is that you have to play the music that they want. If you deviate from there plan you get fired. If you try and stand up to the cruise directors saying that the guests want to hear this you get fired. You will be sharing a cabin as a musican (smaller than a prison cell) and this is hard especially when you get older. Princess and carnival and royal are more fun ships to work on as they are a younger crowd. If you want a more older crowd but more strict living conditions go for celebrity. Remember life on the ship is nothing like life on land (you will see what i am talking about if you do this). Office jobs are good as you get all the cheap/free cruising perks.

I agree with Sue M here..The way I see it when I cruise, I am on a cruise to be relaxed, happy and ENJOY LIFE,, so why be awful acting to everyone else and especially the workers.. The saying is true, You get more bees with HONEY.

My saying is 'that guests leave there manners and brains on the gangway'. Obviously this doesnt apply to everyone. In the beginning i use to wonder what has made these people so miserable. But now i am just thankful that i am not there daughter or sister or cousin.

I AGREE!!!!! I never can figure out why have they even bothered to get away and act like they are under some major crisis, even if they are, you are getting away to escape from the daily hassles. I just stand quietly with smaile on face even with a major upset, if things get so bad in my world, I just exit the scene for quiet time so to speak. I sure am not going to take out my miserable feelings on someone else.

Danielle, since you worked in Guest Relations, I bet you've seen the worst of the worst. I admire anyone who has the patience to do that job. I've been in line to ask a question and have seen how ugly some of the passengers can be. It just dumbfounds me that some people can act so crude. I was embarrassed just to be around them.
