I am going to be going in a group of 12 people with ages ranging for 11-65 to mexico. We already booked the monarch because it is filling up very fast, and if we cant find a better cruise, we can change if necessary. I have heard the ship is very old, but for a 4 day cheap cruise, it is worth the value.

On the other hand last night I found out about the Oosterdam. It is a 7 night cruise to cabo, mazaltan, and Puerto Vallarta. Last summer I already went to the ports on the Carnival Pride, but I really like they lay out of the ship and its features.

    Now what do I choose?
I have a suspicion you will be sailing during spring break.
That might not be the best time to cruise, especially with
a lot of seniors traveling. You're also paying a premium
for sailing at that time. If you can delay your cruise
for 2-6 weeks you can sail on the Monarch for about $80
per person per day in an outside cabin. Similiar prices are available
several sailings before your cruise also.

I just got back off of the Monarch and they did a nice upgrade a few years ago. It also has a wide range of interests for you "young adults" ( I read one of your other posts and I do not consider you children you act too mature for that) and the older adults. I think you will be happy with the Monarch. Which ever cruise you choose, have fun.

I can tell you that the Oosterdam is a great ship...it is beautiful and though the passengers on HAL tend to be older, it is such a great line. We were on the O. with our children...it was a wonderful cruise. I hope you make the decision which fits your family best...have a wonderful time choosing!!

That wasn't detailed in your first post.:headbang2

Just checked again and you can actually sail in June after
schools out for a better price.

Either way you'll have a great time on Monarch,
I've sailed her 6 times and am going back again in June.

The Paradise is an older ship than the Pride.

I am also partial to the Monarch!

I think we have decided to stay with monarch, san diego is too far down to go to in addition to not wanting to go on a 7 night cruise.
