More of a question than anything else...

I was just thinking that when i was in college there was so much talk about great spring break places to visit. Not one from our group even sudjested a cruise...if i could go back its what i would have done...here is the question..is there any cruise lines that market to college kids looking to go on spring break..well maybe having crazy drunk 20yr olds at sea is not such great idea..

If I has to pick one I would say Carnival. That said, on any ship, including carnival, if anyone on the ship is out of control they will put you off in the next port.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Carnival used to be that cruise line!

But they discovered that there was too much damage and too much liability to continue to cater to the party hearty crowd. So they have been trying to change their image over the years and have targeted a more mature crowd than underage college kids looking for a "good time"!

Maybe, but if what I witnessed at a bar by the pool during the day by passengers that were well over 20 that was done in front of elderly & children, with NO interference from the crew or anyone, it has not changed that much. It was on the Valor.

I do remember going on my first cruise.. I was about 21 yrs old and was with friends...so I did spend alot of time at the bars, it was a good time and plus no one had to drive. It was a Carnival cruise. I still go on Carnival, but now we relax more than anything else...Thinking back to college I just spent money on traveling to FL but really didnt get as much as a cruise would offer as far as entertainment and food ex...but i do see how it can be costly for the cruise lines and disturb others good time..

I was on a three-day cruise on Carnival years ago on Easter weekend. The ship was full of spring breakers. I'd be surprised if they didn't run out of beer. But I imagine one had to show their sign and sail card to get booze, and had to be at least 21.

It was amusing to sit on the pool deck and watch the beer bonging in action. It didn't bother me as long as any smokers stayed far, far away from me (I was pregnant and very hormonal and that was my hot button). The one port was Ensenada and many of the college set went to their version of mecca, Hussain's. We came back early from our port stay and watched the kids returning to the pier in the taxis. Many were staggering, holding on to the others. It was very quiet the next morning. I imagine there was quite a bit of praying to the porcelain gods at that time.

One thing that seems to have changed since then is that colleges are trying to stagger their spring breaks so not too many colleges are out at the same time (at least that's what one hotel employee in Key West had told us when we found ourselves there when there were tons of spring breakers there). So not sure how much marketing would go on to college students. Any such cruises would have to be seven days or less. The rates would probably not be discounted if there's a huge demand.

:-) WHat I can remember working on ships Spring Break time was not our favourite largely due to the noise complaints - but the strange occurrences that happen throughout the year came from all age groups. From what I can remember Carnival's attempt to cut down on such issues was that they introduced a requirement you had to have at least one person over the age of 25 registered to each cabin.

I was on one of those out of control Carnival spring break cruises back in 1994. The ship was packed with high school and college kids. People that could barely stand up were being over served. That was the last time we cruised on one of there ships.

As was mentioned, they now require one person per cabin to be over 25. (unless you are married and bring along a copy of your marriage license.)

We did finally decide to sail with Carnival again but that plan was postponed by the fire onboard the Splendor.

I was on a 5-day cruise on the Carnival destiny last month. We witnessed some truly nasty drunks and they remained on the ship. Hard-core partying was encouraged by everyone from the cruise director down. It was our first Carnival cruise - and our last.
