    Ship Time vs. Island Time

Does it annoy you that the ship doesn't always follow island time? Would you rather it be uniform that the ship always followed island time?

I know that in some cases it makes more sense to follow ship time and disregard island time... for example Fanning Island. If any of you have done that cruise, then you know what I mean.

But in cases like the Caribbean islands where there is always confusion between ship time and island time and people always get confused booking private tours, do you think there should be a uniform rule?

The only reason I like staying on ship time is so that I don't have to change my watch if we cross time zones. Other than that, it's just confusing.

IT drives me nuts! I'm dreading having to keep track of it! It just doesn't make sence that they don't go by island time.

I agree that it is just confusing. Its confusing for passengers and its confusing for tour operators. Its a wonder that more people don't end up missing the ship because they get confused!

I guess we can't expect the islands to change their time, so we just grin and bear it. It would be easier if we didn't have to worry about it, but we do. Sure don't want to miss that ride to the next destination.

This is really no big deal to me.................I just roll with the flow folks........and I also have a watch that I can set at the same time for 2 time zones...........but really haven't done that except in Hawaii where there was 8 hours time difference............

I just make sure I get back to the ship early

Wow, we have never come across this in the Caribbean (Western & Eastern), the ship changed to our time zones but it wasnt a problem for our excursions or shopping, we just always stayed with ship time, Did we miss something we were suppose to be aware of ???

Does the ship tell you when the island is on a different time? How do you find out?

Usually in the Ship's Daily Compass the night before that will tell you to move forward or back your clock appropriately........
