On our last cruise (on the Golden Princess), a deck employee was walking around one afternoon offering chocolate chip cookies and milk. I don't know if they did this every afternoon as it wasn't exactly a cruise for sunbathing (mostly rainy or otherwise cool and windy).

I would snatch up the cookie and millk in a heartbeat if that happens when I am onboard. So far it is looking like Princess is better except for the beds and smoking policy, so I will choose them when I want a big ship. Now the question is should I take a short cruise (2-3 nights) to experience a less attractive, but still pretty good cruise line and destination?

NO! I don't think you will really get the feel of a cruise ship with such a sort trip. You will be spending all your time getting to the ship, getting on the ship, unpacking, packing, getting off the ship, and getting back home. We took one four day cruise a while back and while it was magnificent, we felt a bit rushed. I can't imagine what a shorter one would be like.

Seven days is about right to get into the ship lifestyle and to really enjoy things.

Short trips are ok if you just want to see the ship or like me you are in need of a "fix" to keep you going unitl the next longer voyage. As Neal has said seven days is about right, that gives you time to try what is on offer without feeling like you have to rush around from one thing to another to fit it all in.

From now on, I will call that CANE for short on this board. Unless the Royal Princess sails in the Western Mediterranean for her maiden voyage, I probably will take a CANE cruise in May 2013, when she is scheduled to debut.
