I have not personally sailed MSC but will be seeing the Orchestra next week when it is in NYC.

My clients' complaints about the ship were centered around the European style of service.
The wait staff is going to be less intrusive which means, if your water glass is empty, they will not refill it unless you ask.

Many Americans will find this type of service lacking but if you understand that ahead of time, just ask for what you want and it will not a problem.

They also said that the entertainment was wonderful!

Price wise- they offer kids free on most sailings so this makes it very affordable for families. Their prices are very competitive and are often very inexpensive.

That free kids offer is great for families with kids, but I am wondering how many kids it adds to the ship and if the additional kids become obtrusive for those of us who do not have kids?

Disney does a phenomenal job of having a shipfull of kids on every cruise but there is enough segregation that adults can still have have a great time.

Dolores and Mindy - I so agree with you. You can NOT compare European and American style of service. Its completly different.
I prefer the European style but I have nothing against the American style of service. I dont want to be asked X amount of time if I want something or if I am having a good time. The European style is more suttled. Suits me perfectly.
No party atmosphere, suits me even better.

However, in Europe MSC Cruises onboard prices are in Euros and the alternative restaurants have individually prices courses. For us that will work out more then an "American" ship.

They must be getting better... our water glasses were filled without asking... one night we had to ask because we were drinking a ton... Antigua made us really thirsty, lol.. They actually gave us three pitchers of water on our table!!

There were a ton of kids onboard... The pool area had a ton of kids, it was a tad crazy, but, hey ya know it was spring break for many... we were okay with it!

Oh and their gelato was to die for... $1.50 for a cup and $2.50 for a waffle cone, and worth every penny.

Not being bugged every five seconds to buy a drink? Sounds great to me.

Dolores, you mentioned entertainment. Is this just the shows or is there live entertainment in lounges and on the sun deck? Also, is there a variety of activities for the adults and for kids?

Thank you, Dolores. Sounds like I could cruise this line. One important question. Do they do towel animals? I know, silly question. I just LOVE having towel animals (because I'm a kid).

The entertainment in the main theater was great... the most talented singers and dancers ...

There is a piano bar, there are jazzy blues areas, etc... so yes the lounges have live music too.

There were activities pool side, at the main pool, however, I didn't participate.

The mini golf course was rather lousy...lol there is basketball, tennis, table tennis, foose ball etc.

Sorry Kay... no towel animals

Oh, I'm very sad. I was thinking there might be a new line for me to try. I MUST have my towel animals. They make me very happy.
