    Cruise Lines and children prices

I thought it might be good to know that some cruise lines offer a discounted fare for the little ones.

Royal Caribbean and Carnival do NOT...just an FYI

Disney prorates the 3rd 4th rates by age of that person

NCL also offers discounts for kids...they only pay the port charges and taxes

Costa does the same as NCL...BUT they frequently offer specials where the kids cruise free except for the gov't taxes and fees.

    Good info, thanks

I was unaware that there was more available other than 3rd / 4th sharing. What ages does this apply to?

Princess is 3rd and 4th, regardless of age!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

    Dolores,

At what age do the cruiseline consider them kids? Or, conversely, when do they have to start paying adult fares?

If yhou check HAL's website you will that on some of their cruises they offer great prices for the 3rd and 4th passengers in a cabin - including children. On other cruises you have to ask what the price will be for a small child under a certain age and infants.

But it's paying full price for that 1st kid that's a killer!!!!!

I would truly love to take my kids on a cruise but that is out of my price range for now.

Actually, they've gone on some really great vacations on me via child support - St. Thomas/St. John, Disneyworld, Ski vacations, Sedona, AZ., Ft. Lauderdale, overnight adventure/horseback riding camps......

Well, if the 1st kid is the third person in a room, they do get the discount! Yes, I know that this favors families of a two parent household. On the other hand, if you have two kids, you can average the price of persons 2 and 3 between the two of them (and it is far easier to have kids share a bed than it is for adults!)

But I'd still be paying for them! LOL. They'll have to wait until they are old enough to work and can afford to average the cost between them! Right now any "cruise money" I would have for them is being spent on braces. My ex can "afford" to take them all over because of what I pay in child support coupled with what she makes as an attorney. I do take them on vacations but it is much more affordable for me to rent a beach cottage for a week than to pay for 3 to go on a cruise plus the airfare.

But think if you and your ex were still together. You would have to pay for her too!!!! This way you only have to pay for 3....... (Yes, I know that it really does not make things easier )
