I agree with you, Neal. Seems like they only last about a year or so. If they spent more money and bought better beds, they wouldn't have to replace them as often. A really good bed should last a minimum of 5-7 years, even if slept on every night.

We were on the Explorer of the Seas last year and the bed was very hard, so we asked for a topper and they gave us a really nice memory foam topper that was wonderful - made all the difference in the world.

We sleep on a waterbed, so most beds seem too hard for us, but the new pillow-top or memory foam mattresses are very nice - wish they had those on all the ships.

IMO, Carnival has the best bedding for standard, non-suite cabins. I liked Carnival's bedding so much that I purchased their sheet, comforter sets when I returned home from our last Carnival cruise.

    That's great!

Did they offer a variety of colors?

It has been years since I ordered, but I believe they only offered the bedding in white. Here's the site if you are interested:

Just, FYI, HAL has a similar program - and sells beds too (I have heard of problems being reported in how well the mattresses age, though)

the only bed i've ever complained about was NCL and it was on the majesty which has to be the worst ship i was ever on. it was a murphy bed. my husband climbed under to get my flip flops out and there were wooden slats. it was absolutely horrendous. the whole ship was horrible.

Isn't (wasn't?) that one of their really old ships? Not sure with all the names floating around.
