    jim - question for you...

i'm thinking of panama canal for 2007.. did you like brilliance or radiance better? oh wait.. maybe i can't read... is radiance through the panamal canal your upcoming cruise for 2006? why'd you choose radiance? change of scenery? did you take full transit or only half transit?

    All of the above

The Brilliance and Radiance are basically sister ships (Radiance Class) the Brilliance was a 10 day partial out of FL and the Radiance in October of 06 is a full transit 15 day from LA to Ft. Lauderdale..........

We enjoyed the partial so much we want to do the full transit and since the Brilliance is our favorite ship to date............figure the Radiance will be right there and the same.

Yeah i've done Jewel and Serenade and will be on Brilliance next summer. I guess maybe i'll aim for Radiance in 2007, then I can say I've done all 4 Radiance ships! i just love all the glass. its the prettiest ship i've ever been on.

i think i want to do a full transit. then i only have to get one way air to FLL or MIA and i can just rent a car from SD and drive back home.

what was your fav thing about the pan canal?

This may sound corny but the engineering of the canal built in 1917 that is still in operation today.........I just marvel they are using the same gated system.

Book the Radiance repositioning cruise.............when it becomes available in the year you want to go...........end of August each year and we got a jr suite for 2399pp for 15 days.........balconies go for even less.......the repositioning of the radiance when it comes down from Alaska is the cheapest way to go.

hmm.. thats a good tip jim. i'll have to look at the repo cruise of radiance in 2007 at the end of their alaska season.

i agree. the main reason i want to go pan canal is to see the engineering of the canal itself as well!

Here is another tip...........the jr. suites were gone in less than 3 weeks. The bookings opened up around June 1 (16 months in advance) and the jr suites were sold out in 3 weeks............everybody has wised up to the repo cruises and are booking as soon as it opens up.

If you are looking at October of 07 on the Radiance..........start checking the RC website June 1 of next year.

i agree jim. i tried to get a Med cruise on brilliance for this past summer. looked starting at july of last year. totally sold out.

so when rooms opened up for this year at the end of May for July 2006 for the Med on Brilliance, I booked right away. got a cabin i was happy with. 2 weeks later cabins that fit 3 people (which is what we need) were totally sold out.

since you can always reserve and cancel at anytime without penalty 75 days prior to sailing, you might as well book what you think you might want and then decide later if you really want it!

i agree. $450 per person is a lot to give up. but at least knowing i could get it back if i decided not to go on that cruise is peace of mind. also being able to take advantage of fare reductions. etc.

i hate airfare where once you buy it, you can change it or do anything without paying a penalty!
