    Ameninities on ship?

Most hotels now a days have the standard stuff in the bathroom... shampoo, hair dryer, etc. Is this true onboard as well??

Yes, ships do have the ameninities like hair dryer, soap, shampoo and shower gel.
But the quality and quantity has to be questioned.
When we cruised with RCCL the ameninities was rather poor. Shower gel in a despenser, a few small soaps and some shampoo that didnt smell all that great. And there where no robe.
As far as I can remeber HAL had much better quality ameninities and can just hope Celebrity has even better and more.
I suppose the better the cruise line the better in cabin amininities. The more you pay the more you get.
What I usually do is to purchase travel size shower gels, shampoos, soaps etc and bring them with me. They dont really take up that much space in the suitcases and last for the duration of the cruise.

The line's loyalty program figures in here, too.
For example, on RCL, the higher you are in their Crown & Anchor program, the nicer your ammenities... and robes are included at a certain level, too. I forget where that starts... Platinum, maybe?
Suite passengers get nicer ammenities, as well.

The quality of the stuff on Princess is good, but up until lately the packaging left much to be desired. Lately they've changed to bottles for the shampoo and lotions....much better than the paper containers they had before. And we've always had robes because we asked for them.

Celebrity and Carnival (perhaps others, too, but I haven't sailed with others lately)provide robes to all passengers while some limit them to suite and upper tier loyalty members.

I have read here that on most lines you can ask for robes, and if they are availabe, your stateroom attendent (getting high faluting here! ) otherwise known as your cabin steward, will get them for you.

Char's Right! Your cabin steward will get one for you.

As noted, Celebrity & Carnival provide robes to all passengers. HAL does as well. On RCCL (this January '08) our cabin steward ask if we wanted robes. On our last Princess ('07) robes were in our cabin.

If you have a cruise booked with Princess, you'll be filling out the cruise personalizer onboard anyway (to put in your passport info, etc.). There's a place to check if you want robes in your cabin. When you get to your cabin, just check the closet. If you don't see any robes, ask your cabin steward when he or she stops by to meet you.

Shampoo, conditioner and lotion in the Princess bathrooms. I remember there was a lot more samples on Carnival (disposible razors, etc.).

Yes, but there is only one plug in the bathroom and maybe 2 in the cabin. Take along an extension cord with a three plug end or do what we do and take along a 6 plug power strip.
