I'm not convinced that where you are cruising even makes much difference. Alaska and the St. Lawrence Seaway might be exceptions but in the narrows that the ship sails on those itineraries, the scenery is marvelous on both sides.
Just about anywhere else, you're too far from land to really see much of anything.
One thing John mentioned, I believe, was which side the sun rose or set and what preference you had.
