    Alaska in September

My husband and I would like to go to Alaska in September. I have heard Princess is the best line for Alaska. I have found pricing from Seattle for 1004.00 on the Sun Princess and 1049.00 on the Golden Princess. We are very flexible with our dates. Can anyone tell me if these are good prices and if Princess really is the best? Also would it be better if we waited to see if the price comes down since we are flexible on our dates? Thank You so much!

Alaska in September is wonderfull! My first cruise up there was Land portion in August but boarded the ship in September. Visit the Alaska Section of this wonderfull site and see what everyone has to say. Make sure you display threads from the begining. There is alot of information there!

As with any place and any cruise line, everyone has their own opinion on what is 'best'. That's very subjective.

Yes, Princess is very good. Love them!

But it really depends on what you want. You have to decide what it is that you want to get out of your cruise to Alaska. There are several options available; do you want to do a round-trip cruise, or a one-way northbound or southbound? Do you want to do just a cruise or do you want to spend some time seeing the sites other than along the coast line?

For example; we're doing a 14-day cruisetour with Holland America in July. We're only spending 3-nights on the ship and then 10-days doing a tour through the Yukon and Alaska. This was we'll really get to see the interior and appreciate all that the area has to offer.

Had we decided to take just a cruise, we'd miss alot of that. It would be like taking a cruise up the Chesapeake Bay and saying this is Maryland.

Once you decide exactly what you want to do, then it gives you a better idea of who to do it with. For example; if you decide to do a tour before or after your cruise, how long do you want to stay in Denali? Some tours offer a 2-night stay, while most only offer a 1-night stay.

There are just so many decisions to make. But all 4 of the main cruise lines (RCCL, Princess, Holland America, and Celebrity) offer wonderful itineraries. RCCL & Princess are going to be a little younger crowd, whereas Celebrity & Holland are more for a little older crowd with a little more upscale experience.

You really need to talk to your agent and let them help you find something that fits your lifestyle, budget, and requirements.

    Hope this helps.

Currently prices on HAL have dropped alot. As low as $500 Can for 7 Days Northboud/Southboud or return from Vancouver. Also they have(had) specials
    on cruise tours as well.

Weather in Alaska and Britsh Columbia is hit and miss. I've seen it rain,be sunny ,hail and snow
in one day on the coast in Sept (I've lived on the coast for almost 30 years)
