I would have to say, "Yes, very much so!" The food was to die for and everything else was just as excellent as I could imagine.
Upcoming cruise: Caribbean Princess to southern Caribbean on March 7, 2010.

For me, it wouldn't matter how good the restaurants around here are......it's that glorious ocean view that makes the meal on the ship. It doesn't matter what I eat, it's always so much better when coupled with the thought that "I'm on a cruise!"

    Great question!

    "Food for thought..." ha ha...

There was a time when the dining rooms on some ships were considered to be among the best restaurants anywhere in the world.
As recently as the 1960's, the first class dining room on the S.S. France was considered by some food critics the best restaurant in the world.

I believe that a truly great dining experience can still be had on some ships, but I don't think anybody would say that the best restaurant in the world is on any ship.

What I don't understand is why some people are insistant on cruising only on ships with a Johnnie Rockets or a 24hr pizza bar.
Why go on a cruise to stuff yourself with common, every-day fast food?

Though cruise lines do offer wonderful dining, and for many people dinner is the high-point of the day on board, I think that most cities have at least one restaurant that would out-class most offerings on a cruise ship.

I must say, my first meal on the Queen Mary 2, lunch, in port, was so delicious, so well presented, so well serviced, and the dining room so beautiful, that I could have sat there and cried with happiness...
If I had the same meal in a similar restaurant on shore, paying possibly $75 for it, I would have been less impressed!
