    Forward vs Aft

When choosing a cabin, I have heard that most folks prefer the rear facing cabins most. But overall, would typically choose any cabin in the rear of the ship over one more towards the front. I have never had a preference and am not bothered by the "motion of the ocean". Where on the ship do you prefer to have your cabin, forward or aft and why?

We have been all the way aft and almost as far forward on some cruises. On the last cruise, we specifically selected a midships cabin as we knew we would be hitting a major current leaving California and some rough waves.

We tend to prefer cabins farther to the aft vs. fore. I really think we felt more movement in our cabins that were closer to the bow. That being said, we will be closer to the bow on our SF to Vancouver Infinity cruise as we selected the cabin for the larger, protected balcony.

We prefer the aft facing balconies. The motion in the rear of the ship is different from what you feel in the bow. In front you feel more of an up and down motion, while at the back it's more of a wallowing motion.

We were visiting the penthouse suite on Galaxy that was on the starboard side a bit forward of midships, and could really feel the movement much more than our cabin toward the aft.

On the same subject, does one feel more motion lower than higher?

I would think it would be more pronounced the higher your location on the ship.... (See the green people agree!)
and boy is this conversation making me woozie... LOL

We've only ever been high, so I guess I've really been lucky, never felt much. Thanks for the answers.

If at all possible I prefer an aft facing balcony cabin. We felt a ton more motion in our way forward cabin than we ever have in any of our after cabins. Otherwise I'm more concerned with what's around the cabin I'm booking.

If you are concerned about motion sickness go for lower decks in the middle if the ship.

I was spoiled having an Aft Balc on on a cruise where I celebrated a birthday. Aft Balcs Rock! If I can't get an Aft Balc I'll try and get as close to the Aft as I can.

I've been low and high decks. I can tell a difference in the motion of the ocean but it doesn't affect me. The lowest cabin was a Deck 2 inside cabin on the Rhapsody. I felt no motion at all. The Highest cabin was on the Aloha deck and felt a little motion (my cabinmate felt more that I did). My Mom claims she always feels motion no matter where she is on a ship.
