Always like to be all the way forward, myself. No vibration and any motion reminds you
you're at sea. And on, e.g. the R-class ships on Oceania and Co., hearing the anchor
chains in the morning is much better than an alarm clock.
You can outsmart yourself though--on QE2 burst out laughing when I saw berth had a
safety belt, but had to use it several nights to avoid being tossed on the floor when giant storm hit.

I did 16 trips on QE2 and never had a safety belt, was it an upper birth?

After my last cruise I would be inclined to say more toward the aft. I was making runs twice day for ice from the buffet area (they had the best ice. And it went well with my diet Cherry Coke that I liked to drink in my cabin).
