    What was your worst cabin

What was the worst cabin you remember having???

I think mine was in 1979 on the Boheme. We has an inside quad for my sister, parents and me.

From what I remember, there were two uppers and two lowers in an L configuration, a shower toilet combo, and lighting so dim, you didn't even need to turn it on.

The saving grace of this room was there there were "Electrical Outlet Rooms" down the hall for us to do our hair, so three of us didn't have to try to do our hair in this tiny room. Also there was a public potty right down the hall. My Dad would go there first thing in the morning.

Since, 1979, most of my cabins have been pretty good.

We had a queen room on the Rotterdam, wich though tiny, had port holes and was perfect for honeymooners. The outside room on the Merc and the Balcony room on the Infinity were basically the same size, but we had the Balcony room for 4 and it was a bit tight. The Family Ocean view, aside from the vibration of the ship, was by far the best room I've ever had escpecially for for 4.

Haver your ever had a horrible room??? How did your make the most of it? I can tell you on the Boheme, we made the most of it by only sleeping and changing our clothes in it.

    Thumbs down

Oh yeah, without a doubt our worst room was on Universe Explorer several years ago. It was a 14-day Alaska cruise on a smaller (700 pax) and older little known cruise ship. Advertised as the way to see the REAL Alaska, I was looking forward to not having to dress up and enjoying lovely concert music while viewing the beauty of AK. Well, at least we didn't have to dress up!

I chose an inside cabin because it was cheaper of course, (and this was not a cheap cruise), and also it was larger than some of the outside cabins. Sounds good so far, eh? Well, this ship ran on steam and the pipes ran behind our cabin wall. That means NOISE!
The bathroom door was so heavy that even my husband had a hard time opening it! The ceiling was droopy pegboard and everything needed a fresh coat of paint. Old is fine, but rundown is sad.
Yes friends, we were in that cabin for 14 whole days! That was the last inside cabin we have stayed in.

We always get inside or OV cabins which have been about the same size. If I were to say one was the worst, I guess it would have to be the one on my first cruise, on the Jubilee, as we were right under a dining room. We can tell when the floor was vacuumed...around midnight. And we were upgraded to that room!

I guess my "worst" was on my Monarch of the Seas cruise but it really wasn't that bad. We took an oceanview guarantee and ended up on deck 7 right on the front of the ship. The promenade deck was right outside our window and each night of the 3 night cruise, we had people partying outside our room on the promenade deck until all hours of the night. Because the deck was right outside our window, we had to keep the drapes closed at all times, but the drapes were in need of replacing and had gaps on the edges. One was so bad, that they kept it from rolling back up, by safety pinning it to the bottom of the frame. The mattresses were comfortable, the room was clean, and the room steward was great, so I can't say it's all that bad. But I know that I don't ever want to stay in a deck 7 oceanview cabin on RCCL's Sovereign class again.

When the Norway was "going away" for the first time there was a special 8 day sailing. We booked an outside cabin. When we opened the door my wife exclaimed "Holy S__t". This was the smallest cabin I had ever seen. We were given incorrect square footage when we booked. My guess is the cabin was 100 sq. ft. including the bathroom.

If I don't know the answer I'm fairly certain I can find it.

When we first started to cruise we knew nothing about cabins. (I was just lucky to get DH to go on a cruise!)

We booked an ordinary outside cabin on the Cunard Countess. It was so tiny we could hardly move around it AND the bathroom!!! DH flooded the cabin the first -- seas were high - tiny lip lon the shower stall - curtain wrapped around DH - he couldn't move. Our cabin was at the stern of the ship and on our second week our port bow thrusters were ruined when we got stuck in Tortola. All you could hear was them grinding away.

As the years progressed, so did we -- now we only do suites.

OMG, too funny PE, but I still envy you, I always wanted to sail the Norway, and was ready to book when the explosion happened!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

We were booked for the following November after the explosion. Our "little" group (FOMT) had a number of cabin booked (including Penthouse to Owners Suites) and were planning some very special parties. Things like Progressive Cocktail parties and out Black & White Formal Ball would have created quite a stir.

We also had a friend that wass on her way to the ship, from Boca Raton, that fateful morning.
